Opportunities offered by the making of underground space are an important factor in promoting the sustainable development of the wider areas. Following the model International Tunnelling Association (ITA), is also in Slovenia organized Slovenian Society for Underground Structures (SSUS), which links together experts from various fields such as geology,  geophysics, architecture and urbanism, mining engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering... The main objective of the society is developing and promoting technical and scientific field of underground constructions in Slovenian and in the wider environment. In addition not only tunnels for various purposes, but other underground structures have positive arising trend, because the long-term positive impact on sustainable development is almost important for the coordinated operation of various human activities in the natural environment in the future.
